School DescriptionTareha School is a co-educational state full primary school that opened in 1926. Tareha is a small rural community situated 3.1 km along the Kaiwaka road. The school recognises that it is a rural school, hence the local cirriculum goals.
The catchment of Tareha extends along the Kaiwaka and Waipunga Roads, Aropaoanui Road, Tongoio Main Road and Wairoa/Napier highway as far as Whirinaki.
With Tareha being such a widespread area, all children come on one of three bus routes.The staff comprises of a teaching principal and a scale A teacher, the principal's .5 release teacher, two teacher aides, a secretary, cleaner and caretaker.
A wide range of outside agencies also support the school and these include the public health nurse, school dental therapist service and advisory services (including audio visual testers).
There two classrooms, four sheds (resource, phys ed, caretakers), and boys and girls changing rooms, resource room, book room and an admin block. The swimming pool, tennis court and sports fields are used by the wider community and the playground is open to community use. The community hall (next door) is used by the school on an annual rental agreement.
Parents are involved with assistance in netball, rugby, library, classroom programmes, ground maintenance, transporting children, camps and trips. The school has a family atmosphere.

The Board of Trustees of Tareha School will establish long term goals and strategy plans in accordance with the National Education Goals. The Board will also develop and implement its policies in alignment and accordance with the National Administration Guidelines and follow the National Curriculum.
Charter Undertaking
In accordance with section 64 of the Education Act, the Tareha School Board of Trustees undertakes to take all reasonable steps to achieve the local goals in this Charter. This Charter has been approved by the Board following consultation with the community in terms of sections 61 & 63 of the Education Act, and takes full account of the National Administration Guidelines and all statuary obligations.
